Beauty and Substance.

This book is stunningly gorgeous, well-researched, and well-written. It's much "meatier" and in-depth than many exhibition catalogues, and has a lot of great insights about fashion and fantasy and fairy tales. It's a great accompaniment to the exhibition, but stands on its own. It also includes several essays on the theme by other scholars, including a wonderful essay on ballet and fashion by Patricia Mears.

Fairy Tale Fashion is the first exhibit to link the fantasy of fairy tales to the fantasy of fashion. The exhibit is wonderful and this book is a chance to enjoy the exhibit forever. The book is full of intelligent analysis and wonderful images that make the intent of the exhibit and its concepts even clearer. Thought provoking and insightful!
